Unlike lever load binders which may need 2 people to operate, the ratchet type only needs one person to use effectively. This type of chain binder doesn't require for a good leverage when being tightened. The ratchet action makes the tightening process possible. Its design has virtually eliminated kickbacks often experienced with lever load binders and a common cause of injury at the workplace. The ratchet binder can be tightened easily and can be locked into place without the need for other tools. But as with most load binding systems, it is always wise to take extra precautions when using such equipment.
